I realise this photo is not necessarily related to waste, but…this was the car in front of me today.
Now I’m not a big fan of city 4wd’s, but this Jeep had balls.

Whilst visiting an Ikea store the other day I overheard a women when she turned to her children and said:
“how would you like to go over there and play while I go and get some stuff“.
Don’t get me started. Remind me sometime to tell you about the ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY EVERYTHING SHOP.

Spotted this little line printed on the bottom of a birthday invitation recently. Nice one!

How’s this for an Idea…
Why don’t we donate unwanted toys to the ‘waiting rooms’ of the world!
The other day whilst visiting the doctor I happened to notice there were toys all over the place to keep the little ones occupied.
There’s a lot of toys out there in need of new homes, I thought to myself as I sat and watched a three year old bang some old blocks together.
As I write this post, I can’t help feeling that something like this probably already exists and I’ve gone and got myself all excited over nothing new. Good Idea anyway!

How tight is a supermarket chain that asks it’s customers to fork out 99c to purchase a ‘green message’ key ring?Spotted these keyrings at the checkout the other night. I’m pretty sure it was safeway but I’m not 100% sure.
A key ring to remind us to take our re-useable bags to the shops is a smart idea. What’s unbelievable is that the supermarket is asking us to pay for them. Why on earth wouldn’t you give them away? Great PR I would have thought!
I suppose the positive side, is that because they are NOT free, there won’t be so many plastic key rings in the tip one year down the track.
One thing you can do is just keep a little sign next to the front door that reads something like…
“going shopping?…don’t forget your bag! That works for me!

The Legian beach cleaning team are sponsored by coca-cola. Good to see a company that profits from producing a product, so often found scattered across public space, helping to keep things clean. Well done. A tick for you!
It would be nice to see more of this so called ‘corporate responsibility’. So often, litter is branded with company logos (free advertising!!). These companies could help to keep public spaces clean. What do you think they would say if we asked them to help? One things for sure, such initiatives will become more and more important if large companies wish to prosper into the future. The opportunities are endless…
see this article if you are interested in litter as advertising http://203.171.84.225:8080/traction/permalink/Blog444

Anyone who knows me will know that I have a theory when it comes to public ‘rubbish’ bins. I have been saying for years now that the system we need is simple and incorporates just two bins.
One for FOOD/ORGANIC, and one for EVERYTHING ELSE – Simple!
Over the last ten years or so, we have managed to simplify our public place bin systems. Gone are the days when we are confronted by a different coloured bin for just about every different type of waste you could think of. I still find reminents of this system. Blue lids, red lids, green lids. I’ve even seen orange lids. Heaven only knows what that bin is for.
These days, most public place bins utilize a TWO BIN system. Only problem is, in my opinion, they haven’t quite got it right. Most systems today have one bin for RECYCLABLES and a second bin for ‘RUBBISH’ or WASTE.
Has anyone noticed the new bins on the railway stations?

Once again, very groovy graphics (some graphic arts company would have done very nicely out of this job!) but the point is, once again, they’ve missed the point!
I believe what we need is a two bin system – One bin for FOOD/ORGANIC and the other for EVERYTHING ELSE. I’m not going to go into it in depth right now. What I’d really love is for you out there to challenge my theory.
As you probably know, I was recently in Bali having a look around and lo and behold… have a look at what I found…

…and for those of you having a little trouble reading the signage

Here it is!
One bin for ORGANIK and the other for NON ORGANIC ie everything else!
On the beach in downtown Legian. I am still in shock!

Hi everyone. I’m still in Bali and return Friday10th. I’m unable at the moment to load any pictures but I’ve taken plenty and look forward to filling you in when I arrive home. I think I have actually found the two bin public system I keep talking about (organic/non organic) here in Bali. I can’t believe it! Stay tuned…
