The Nutella Glass

Take a look at this drinking glass. Take a good look. It wasn’t always a drinking glass. It used to be a jar of nutella. It was bought as a jar of nutella. After the nutella was all gone, the packaging took on a second life. It became a drinking glass.

This is not a new idea. I remember Barnes honey used to do excactly the same thing. In fact, they went one step better. Their glasses used to have a handle. Wow!

Forget recycling…this is about RE-USING! RE USE is higher up the waste pyramid than recycling. Re using is more important than recycling!! I kid you not!

However…

Am I the only one who thinks that this is fantastic?

How come the marketing of this product dosen’t appear mention the fact that once you’ve finished the nutella you have a great little drinking glass? I would of thought in such a competitive ‘spread’ market, and given the environmental benefits, that this ‘re-use’ packaging would have been right up there in the marketing spiel…nup!

The funny thing is, Barnes honey never used to mention it either.

Two words…PLEASE EXPLAIN!

So good to find your article on Nutella ‘glasses’ today. I use them for our shot of fresh orange juice each morning – perfect size!
I have also taken some of the overflow into school where I plan to do the odd lunchtime glass painting class with some of the children.
My daughter has gone one better and is etching pictures of her friends on to the glasses and filling them with sweets for Christmas presents – They are looking GREAT and I know her pals will love them!

Thanks for your comment Gerry. I especially love the christmas present idea. If re-using is good, re-using twice must be even better.
stay tuned.

I have been searching *EVERYWHERE* to find the Simpsons Nutella glasses. Our 1.5 year old has broken both of ours…and they were the perfect double shot glasses.

My husband’s heartbroken. Please let me know if you know where to purchase Nutella in glass jars….we LOVE Nutella but the plastic container just isn’t the same.

Thanks for the thought; no worries. Not sure who felt worse about it, me or my husband. I felt guilty, he felt sad.

But we’ve moved on to antique small jelly jars. I think we have moved to the next stage of grieving. But, if you ever find them online….keep me in mind (=

MMMM…Nutella! I read about it online and found that you can use the container as a glass, so I thought I’d do a search and came across this site. Unfortunately, my glass does not have Homer either! (I also saw an image of a Nutella glass with Batman!)
Cheers!

hi, i know this post is super old.. but i thought i’d comment anyway seeing as i’ve just stumbled upon the nutella glass/drinking glass thing. I’m glad to hear other people use it as a drinking glass and that might be the design purpose, as a poor college student who rarely finds time to buy good glasses (or dishes/ or cutlery if we’re going to get technical), it is perfect for me! one less thing to worry about, killing two birds with one stone. :)
